Ecole Polytechnique launched in 2017 its first session of summer workshops on Data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence: the Data Science Summer School aka DS3 and display clearly its will to promote these topics by training as well as research and industrial partnerships.
Even before the begining, the international program organised by Emmanuel Bacry (co-founder of nam.R, director of research at the CNRS at Paris Dauphine University and lecturer at Ecole Polytechnique), was a success: 700 applications of which 400 were accepted, 30 different nationalities from the 6 continents.
Even if the background of all the participants is mostly academic (with academic seniors and 220 students), it must be noted that this first edition attracted professionals of the private sector who were about 100.
From 28th August to the 1st September 2017, the audience was the first to benefit from the course program, that last up to 6 hours, given by the international specialists references in the domain. Yoshua Bengio, Csaba Szepesvári and Stuart Russell were in the list of the 16 experts at the forefront of the new tools of the sector.
During those 5 days, nam.R was present on the campus, proud to follow its co-founder Emmanuel Bacry in this promising initiative, to discuss about thematics that are the DNA of our start-up: innovation, data science, machine learning, data visualisation, deep learning and their application for a paradigm shift and an ecological transition.
Technological innovation at the service of a better world, more efficient: here is what gathered academics and industrials in this high place of education.
In an open spirit and an eagerness of knowledge transmission, Ecole Polytechnique have decided to make these courses available online during september 2017.
To keep in mind this first Data Science Summer School, nam.R has interviewed Emmanuel Bacry, Cédric Amazon and Csaba Szepesvari:
